Speech and language developmental delay (13 stages)
mom Olya and son Dima 9 y.o Dnipro region Ukraine

Hello everyone! My name is Olya and my son is Dima he is now almost 9 years old. We are from the Dnipro region. I work as a psychologist with children with special educational needs. At the beginning of June, the 13th stage was completed. They applied at the age of 4 years and 4 months. Diagnosis of Speech and language developmental delay SLDD. At that time, we already knew about Professor Rakhmanov, but after watching the documentary film “The Hero of Our Time” we had mixed feelings, for some reason it seemed that we would not be accepted right away, the treatment method scared us a little and we decided that we would follow the classic path, we would go to Kyiv. There they told us to apply for disability, give birth to a second child, and all that can be done is tomatis, micropolarization, cerebracurin injections with a terrible side effect. That’s in short. A day later we were already in Dnipro, then still in department 42 on Igren…

Now about the disease first. The child developed in accordance with all norms, from 8 months he began to speak his first words, understood everything. Relapse began 1 year and 2 months after a severe rotavirus infection. We came back from the hospital, where we were on drips for 8 days, without any words, and then it only got worse. They restarted broadcasting already after 3 years and 6 months, but realized that those few words are just echolalia, they are not well understood. For about 2 years of treatment, they injected Cortexin, drank agvantar, neuromedin, encephabol, maybe something else, I don’t remember anymore. Remedial classes were difficult and unproductive. In addition to problems with speech and pronunciation, they had:

– poor understanding of the target language, only basic household instructions;
– fear of playgrounds, entertainment centers, any noisy premises, swings, slides, scooters. He got used to big toys or sled-type transport even before he was a year old, he was afraid to sit down;
– he did not play with the children in kindergarten, he was just with them and played with himself;
– was not critical, but some selectivity in food. Everyone used the products, but the dishes from them had to be prepared in a certain way. For example, meat only in the form of minced meat. I did not eat pancakes, fritters, dumplings and the like;
– in kindergarten, he was very afraid of the music hall, he did not go to classes there, he sat with the nanny in the group. I didn’t even go there just to take pictures.

After the first stage of treatment, speech started to develop very quickly, thinking faster, so a lot of echolalia started. It was another very difficult period, because it’s one thing when a child doesn’t talk, and quite another when he says everything, but you still can’t talk, enter into a dialogue with him. I am writing this specifically for those parents who want speech after the first stage. Let basic skills come, thinking and understanding will improve, then speech will be much more conscious. In addition to new words and phrases, the understanding of spoken language improved significantly, he began to address adults verbally, and not just by pulling the hand or pointing.

On the 3rd day of the 2nd stage, we were walking around the territory of the institute and Dima told me “Mom, let’s go to the slides” and ran to the playground in the sand. I walked behind in shock and was afraid to even breathe, because firstly, it was a complete sentence, and secondly, slides? What have we been shrieking over for more than 3 years? After that day, he woke up and how long we were in Dnipro before 10 p.m. we could not take him from the playgrounds. There was such an impression that he wants to ride for all his lost years)) He also started riding those red pedal cars, a scooter. After returning home, they bought all this))
I started to draw and paint.

And so every time something new came and necessarily improved the already acquired. It should also be said that we live on the border with the Kherson region and in 22, 23 it was especially loud, as well as the load of the school, online. All this periodically caused some nervous conditions, which we successfully corrected with treatment from the professor (obsessive movements, actions, enuresis even happened one period, plucked eyelashes, touched the ear, nose, etc.).

My improvements:
– pains in the lower back (protrusions) have passed, now they are worsening, because there was a caesarean section, but I hope that it will pass soon
– the knee works much better (trauma since childhood, habitual dislocation). I ride a bicycle, I walk normally on steps
– pelvic pain disappeared)
– the body temperature normalized (more than one year it was 37.2, for no known reason)
– the atmosphere in the family improved

Speech and language developmental delay (13 stages), Dima 9 y.o Dnipro region Ukraine

Now Dima has finished the 2nd grade of the secondary school. On an inclusive form, but completely according to the class program. Notebooks are among the neatest, very good handwriting, reads, counts, good phonemic hearing, writes dictations correctly, 10, 11 points. Loves computer science. Thanks to the Professor and making daily efforts, we got a completely different child, a healthy child)) Of course, some moments will worry us, the parents, with whom we constantly work, but compared to the perspective that was announced to us 5 years ago, these are already trifles.

And the most important thing is that in January of this year, Dima had a little brother, whom we did not dare to have for a very long time)) For which a special THANK YOU to Vagif Mamedovych, for believing that everything will be fine)) A huge greeting and thanks to the team, we hug everyone!🤗
