Global development delay and ADHD (hyperactivity)
mom Olena, son David 7 y.o, Ukraine

In November 2022, he completed the 7th stage of treatment at the Institute, diagnosed with global development delay GDD and hyperactivity ADHD. The first time we came for treatment was when David was 4.5 years old – now his son is 7 years old.

Global development delay GDD and hyperactivity ADHD. Treatment review: David 7y.o

I noticed that David had developmental problems when he was about 2 years old. The son did not speak, there was no pointing gesture, he did not point his finger at those things that he liked, did not respond to the name, was restless, did not sleep well. When I turned to neurologists, the doctors reassured me, they said that everything would be fine, that we had to wait, which was too early.

I believed and waited. Then the son caught a cold, he was diagnosed with laryngotracheitis, he started to have shortness of breath until he turned blue, and tracheal stenosis. We ended up in the infectious diseases hospital, David was very frightened of the treatment, and doctors, he began to bite, rush at me, fight, and became very aggressive. My husband and I thought it was because the hospital had such an impact on the child. But at home, after discharge, it got even worse.

David seemed to have gone crazy, his behavior was just crazy and out of control. He began to subscribe, and generally stopped hearing and listening to me. Before the war, we lived in a small village in the Donetsk region, we have no specialists, and there is no one to turn to. There is no kindergarten either, I sat with my son, studied with him myself.

I was advised to contact Professor Rakhmanov by a friend who treated an autistic girl with him. We came for a consultation and the professor said that the child needed help, that he could stay for treatment. We tried to visit the Institute every three or four months.

From the first day of treatment, David stopped writing, then coordination of movements improved, he began to draw, cut, and glue applications. My husband and I are very happy with these positive changes. The son began to do exercises on the horizontal bar, and climb the stairs, and began to show that he wanted to communicate with the children, to play together.

We didn’t have any particular problems with food, he didn’t want to eat something, for example, beets, but basically, he ate all the products. After the fifth stage, he began to try everything and determine what he likes and what he doesn’t like.
After the second stage, speech began to appear, three or four words each, he tried to put the words into sentences.

I constantly tried to do everything so that my son was in society so that he would have someone to be friends with, to communicate with. We don’t have grandparents, dad is at work, and there is no one to leave David to, he is always with me only. I took it with me everywhere: to shops, to the market, on business, to visit.

The war was a real shock for our family. In addition to the fact that it was necessary to urgently evacuate, I understood that I could not get to the next stage of treatment with the professor.

Last year at the Institute, I met the mother of a girl from Kyiv, who has the same diagnosis as David. We became friends, we talked. Her parents live in Germany, and I called her at the end of February, when we were about to evacuate, asking for advice about living in this country. It turned out that they were also going to leave and invited us with them.

David and I traveled for three days, first by an evacuation train to Lviv, then volunteers helped us get to Germany and settle down.

In Germany, the son went to school. We were offered to choose preparatory or first class. I chose preparatory, because I hope that by next year the war will still stop, and we will return to peaceful Ukraine and go to first grade normally. I did not say that my son has health problems, we went through a medical examination, and the doctors did not notice any problems in David’s development.

From the first day of my stay in Germany, I dreamed of returning back, again getting treated by professor Rahmanov. I really wanted to come back in the summer for the next stage of treatment, but we did not have passports, we were waiting for a residence permit. As soon as they issued official documents, they immediately arrived.

With each stage of treatment, the son becomes calmer. There is still a little capriciousness, but everything gradually goes away and gets better.

Global development delay GDD and hyperactivity ADHD

From our latest achievements: full understanding of addressed speech, David speaks, makes sentences, asks and answers questions. Gone is the aggression and self-aggression (stopped biting, scratching, hitting his forehead, tearing his nails and hangnails). Irritability, capriciousness, irascibility, tearfulness have gone by 70%, hyperactivity has gone, he has become sociable, open, and attentive, he has ceased to be afraid of a raised voice, patience and the ability to wait has appeared, independent (dresses, undresses, eats, bathes, brushes teeth, etc. ). He has an excellent memory, and good coordination, falls asleep and sleeps on his own, enuresis has passed, fine motor skills have improved, and he is less sick.

I’m now the happiest person on earth — my son is recovering before my eyes. Apart from the Institute and professor Rahmanov, we are not being treated anywhere, no matter what happens next, I plan to bring David to the next stage of treatment here.
