Hello everyone! My name is Vera, I am a family doctor, I have been working mainly with children for 7 years, mother of Volodymyr (6.5 years old)
Diagnosis: Childhood autism with impaired social interaction and communication (SICD 1 stage), stereotypical behavior.
We started treatment at 5.5 years old. We went through 4 stages.
I am writing with great gratitude, you helped our family get through a difficult period.
From 1.5 years after a severe rotavirus infection, we began to suspect that our son had autism. Volodymyr did not respond to his name, did not react to speech addressed to him, avoided eye contact, showed no interest in communicating with other children, preferred to play alone, it seemed to me that my child lived in “his own world”. Reacted aggressively to children and adults. Did not express emotions in the usual way – did not smile in response, did not show joy when meeting.
Demonstrated stereotypical movements (waved his arms, spun, etc.)
Had pronounced difficulty with speech – delayed speech development, lack of meaningful words, echolalia.
Was very attached to certain rituals and sequences of actions – REACTED VERY STORMLY AND AGGRESSIVELY TO THE SMALLEST CHANGES.
Could not express his desires and emotions, which led to hysterics.
Problems with the toilet (enuresis, encopresis), sleep disturbances (waking up and staying awake in the middle of the night), priority in food.

When Vova was 3.5 years old, I gave him neuroleptics on the recommendations of a psychiatrist, the child became calmer, but he was simply drowned out by the drugs.
I was very worried and scared, Volodymyr’s development stopped, he was not interested in anything, showed no interest in learning and mastering new skills, slept a lot, sometimes he just sat and stared at one point, was inhibited – gross and fine motor skills suffered.
In the evening, when the effect of the drugs ended, unpredictable behavior and strong aggression, crying, screaming began – the body demanded a pill.
After a year of taking the drugs, I realized that my child had stopped developing.
Jumping off the drugs turned out to be very difficult, despite the fact that I am a doctor and have knowledge in medicine and many acquaintances of qualified colleagues in psychiatry and neurology, this turned out to be a task with an asterisk *
We followed all the recommendations according to the scheme, refused the drugs, took replacement therapy, but the withdrawal syndrome did not go away. And the nervous and mental state of the child finally flew off, the behavior became severe and unpredictable, I’m not afraid even to say the word “inadequate”. I shed a sea of tears in despair that there was no way back, I did not know how to help him. I saw that he was very bad both physically and mentally.
After the first course of treatment, the withdrawal syndrome passed, Vladimir calmed down, began to behave much better, began to hear and respond to speech addressed to him, he began to understand the speech of people around him, he was able to carry out simple everyday requests, he strove again to learn and master new skills. Social interaction improved, aggression completely disappeared, he became tactile and kind, hugged me.
After the second course, it got even better, I could not get enough of his behavior, his sleep improved – the child sleeps all night, enuresis passed (previously there were wet pants regardless of going to the toilet)
Stereotypes completely disappeared – Vova stopped waving his arms, spinning around himself, swaying, running around the apartment for no reason, jumping on the couch. He stopped swinging on the swing at the playground – before, the whole walk consisted of me pushing him hard on the swing.
He has fewer fixed interests – before, he was only interested in animal figures, now he is interested in letters, numbers, books, he sculpts, draws, assembles Lego. The game began to gain meaning and a plot, before, he just lined up toys in a row and imitated animals.
Adaptive skills have improved: Vova eats himself, uses utensils, can get food from the refrigerator and put it on a plate, organize his own meal, I allow him to use a knife, fine motor skills have improved a lot, he cuts very carefully, watches his hands – before, he just walked and cried and I had to guess that he wanted to eat.
After the 3rd course, there was a slight rollback, hyperactivity appeared, I was a little worried and worried, but when I came to the 4th course, I realized that this was for a new leap in development, on the 13th day of the 4th course of treatment, Vladimir went to the toilet on his own (encopresis disappeared), and this has been fixed for the following days until today – I have been struggling with this problem every day for 5.5 years, using all the methods that only exist, but nothing gave a result.
For our family, this is a huge victory.
He can dress himself – outerwear, shoes, shorts, pants, underwear, sometimes there is not enough motivation, but we are working on it.
I would say that our behavior at home is good, Vladimir hears my requests and fulfills them, sometimes he himself takes the initiative in household chores.
The problem of street (field) behavior remains, the street and external factors still overexcite Vova and he can run away or ignore me and my requests.
There is no speech addressed yet, he speaks only when asked, but we will definitely work on this in the next courses.
Somatic health has also improved – the immune system began to work, before he often suffered from acute respiratory viral infections with bacterial complications, TORCH infections, rotavirus, enterovirus infections. Now he has been in complete well-being for six months. Viral infections happen, but we do not go further than a runny nose.
I want to note how many positive changes I have described in my child’s condition since the start of treatment, and this is only the beginning of our journey, it will only get better! Parents, do not lose hope for improvement, even if there are periods of deterioration, this is always a breakthrough before the positive dynamics of the child’s condition, every day we see small but such important victories: the first conscious look, the first attempt to hug, the first words that sound like music to us.
He began to communicate with us, show emotions, enjoy simple things – and this is the greatest happiness for our family.
Thank you for helping our child find himself and giving us faith in the future.
