I am Anna Aivazova from Dnipro, Ukraine, mother of three children. My twins Artyom and Timur were born in 2007. Now they are 4 years 8 months old. At 3.5 years old, he was diagnosed with mental retardation. From the age of 2.5, we regularly underwent treatment at the 5th Children’s hospital due to the delay in psycho-verbal development (delayed speech development) and ASD. The children did not understand the addressed speech, did not follow the instructions. They did not respond to the name. There was no eye contact. Frequent self-torture tantrums (children hit their heads on the floor and furniture). The children had disturbed sleep at night. They slept in pieces for 45 minutes – 1 hour, woke up in a terrible hysterics, shouted, bent over, demanded to carry them on their hands, it was impossible to sit down, immediately pulled out, fell to the floor and beat their heads. 1-2 hours of motion sickness, a little sleep and hysterics again. And so all night. We and the neighbors suffered, and in the summer the whole house because of the open windows.
Were demanding in desires. If you refuse – hysteria. At the age of 2.5, children began to respond to the first command – “Stop!” At the age of 3, they began to execute short commands. At 3.5 years old, they began to go to the potty, began to compare themselves with their name. They repeated words at my request, but did not use them in everyday life, although they knew the meaning of some words. At the age of 4, they learned the Russian and English alphabets, but they did not add syllables and numbers either. They just recognized and named them.
We underwent 2 courses of Cortexin at 2g 9 months and 3g 3 months, Pantocalcin 2.5g and 3g 4 months a 3-month course. Periodically from intracranial pressure, Diacarb with Asparkam and Cinarizine, regularly Glycised, long-term Noofen, in 3 g. For 9 months, children began taking 0.5 ml of Rispolept (Risperidone) at night and began to sleep, calmed down, became more attentive, increased eye contact, but after 10 months of taking it turned out that their liver and pancreas had increased. 3 courses of Cerebrocurin in 3g. 11m., At 4 years old and at 4.5 years old, children slowly developed, but they did not react to my speech, requests, and commands.
They learned about Professor Rakhmanov by chance from my mother, with whom they were examined at Children’s hospital #14 on Zhukovsky. From the first day of treatment, the children began to sleep without Rispolept (Risperidone), although they were very restless, twisted, kicked in their sleep, but still slept. The lethargy in the morning is gone. On the 8th day of treatment, they began to finish the endings of the lines from the poems that I had been constantly telling them from the age of 5 months, and only now they began to interest them, they began to hum choruses from children’s songs, began to listen with interest to new poems and songs, from the 3rd times they already recognized them and smiled.
By the middle of the treatment, they became calmer, the number and duration of tantrums decreased, and it became easier to switch them over. The old short commands became better. They stopped choking on drinks. Such positive changes in 20 days of treatment revived me, gave me faith and hope that sooner or later my children will nevertheless become complete, they will have a chance for a full-fledged independent future. They gave me the strength to fight hard against our disease. After all, it takes a lot of strength and perseverance to educate and study with such children, children should not be allowed to relax, they need to be fiddled with and demanding more from them than, even we think, they are capable of. I happily noted on the 2nd cycle of treatment for mental retardation (delayed speech and ASD) that the children began to behave perfectly in public transport. Previously, they were hysterical, lying in the aisle, kicking each other, and sitting in front of people. I had to distract them all the time with juices, sweets, rhymes, and songs. In general, behavior in public places has improved. Now it’s not so scary to go to the store with them.
The oldest child, Tigran, he is almost 9 years old, also underwent 2 cycles of treatment. The older child had obsessive-compulsive movement disorder, during the school year he pulled out all his eyelashes and began to pull out the hair on his head due to problems with his studies. At the age of four, he was frightened. Since then, he was afraid of the dark, he was afraid to fall asleep himself. He was afraid of blood, injections, heights, big dogs.
From the first day of treatment, he began to fall asleep in his room himself, without panic fear to move in the dark along the corridor to the switches. Has ceased to be afraid of injections, blood. He used to suffer over every scratch. He used to feel bad at the sight of blood. These fears are gone. His eyes changed. Before, I saw constant fear in his eyes, even in a calm and cheerful atmosphere. He became a little more self-confident, more outgoing. The teacher at the school noted that the child began to better follow what was happening in the lesson. He stopped touching his eyelashes. At one time there was a slight aggravation, during which he again began to pull out the hair on his head, but this aggravation lasted for several days, and then everything went away.
The peace of mind of the child, of course, cannot but please the parents.
At the moment we have gone through 3 cycles of treatment. We are now 5 years and 4 months old. Artem began to recognize, voice, and write words from cartoons (Soyuzmultfilm, artist, end, Cheburashka, Tom and Jerry, cat, elephant, milk, Tsokotukha Fly, Mom, Dad, Grandfather, Grandmother …) and began to learn new ones that I write to him (sun, cat, turtle …) recognizes and names them. Like photographic memory. Artem started to paint. Timur has a meaningful look. He repeats words after me with awareness and began to use them more often as intended. Understands commands better and follows them. Artyom became very calm and Timur also changed a lot, became calmer and controlled he can already be persuaded. Previously, I did not understand the conditions and promises at all. Now Timur looks in the eyes when they talk to him, Artyom is a little worse – sometimes he turns away, ignores. But in general, my children have changed a lot. This was noted by both the defectologist and the kindergarten teachers.
Artem is really interested in new words. A large number of new words were learned according to the Doman system. And Artyom has already begun to read unfamiliar short words himself !!! Artyom began to sleep in his own crib, before falling asleep in his parents’ bed.
Timur has become more intelligent in everyday life, more independent – he cuts off his own sausage, turns on the technique.
Children have become much calmer and more accommodating. It is still bad with the addressed speech, but the number of learned commands is slowly increasing (call the elevator, wear slippers, swim, etc.).
They are no longer afraid to wash their hair. It became easy for them to cut their nails. It became easier to cut them, especially Artyom, during the haircut he did not twist and did not pinch. They have become more affectionate, begging for hugs and kisses. We learned by heart the tales about Kolobok and Ryaba Chicken. They became interested in new fairy tales.
The elder Tigran began to read a little better (he no longer reads short words in syllables), a memory for little things appeared, which minibus they were driving yesterday, from what day we were being treated, etc.
Artem is already reading any unfamiliar words. Names of stores, advertising on billboards, all text on food and medicine packaging, both in Russian and Ukrainian, and some in English. It is a pity that he does not always understand the meaning of the words he read. vocabulary is not large enough yet. But his gaze is still floating, he does not constantly look into his eyes, but only when you pull him back and impose. Timur looks very well in the eyes, catches my facial expressions. And by his facial expressions, you can already understand everything about his desires and mood. Listens to commands better. Behavior has improved. But sometimes Timur bangs his head in hysteria.
The number of words used in everyday life has increased in children (Get up, wake up, let’s go, wash, bread, butter, sausage, apple, cartoons, etc.).
Timur began to use the word NO, I DO NOT WANT, I DO NOT SHOULD. Sometimes I can pull the word YES out of it, but this rarely happens so far.
Both Timur and Artyom already meaningfully say the word COLD when they are cold, FALL, HURT when they hit. Timur says: “Don’t cry!” When he wants to be pitied.
We began to tell ourselves from a little book, short fairy tales, of course not literally, but they still tell. They have become more independent – they wash apples for themselves, sometimes they make a sandwich themselves, sometimes they dress themselves, undress and take off their shoes. Children sleep at night, but go to bed while it is still late. Timur cannot sleep for an hour or an hour and a half for a long time, spinning, kicking, doing harm. And Artyom began to fall asleep quickly, and when he could not sleep he lay quietly, humming songs. Children liked to pose in front of the camera – they smile, take interesting poses. Timur began to play with his older brother: he fences with sabers, runs with him with pistols, shoots from around the corner, plays a fight, Timur shouts: – “Kiya!” and at the same time not strongly, but playing beats Tigran.
The elder Tigran began to read a little better, this was noted by the teacher at school, she began to complain that Tigran was chatting in class. Previously, it was not heard. First, he spoke almost in a whisper, and secondly, he was silent. And I am pleased with this comment of the teacher. Indeed, now until he tells me about his affairs and disputes with the children at school, he will not get rid of me. He shares his impressions and successes in playing games on the computer, recalls how he spent the holidays with his brother, shares with me his experiences of academic performance and dreams, became picky about his appearance, complained that he was not handsome enough. ;-)))
Previously, everything had to be pulled out of it with tongs. He doesn’t pull out more lashes, but he continues to tug at them during mental stress and continues to itch. I became more self-confident. Strengthened physically: posture and gait became better, stopped complaining about a heavy bag, about a long walk. I became more independent. Helps me. Now I can leave the kids with him not for long. He will pour them water, make a sandwich, and wipe their ass.
Timur has ceased to be afraid of dogs. Tigran started eating fish, not all of it, but this is the beginning … Before the 16th stage, Artyom began to fantasize. I asked for money for the trip. I put on a backpack and walked in a hat, imagining that he was traveling … This has not happened yet, so we are waiting for the continuation … I hope the children will please me again ещё
My mother now sleeps at night, she has become a little bolder. She does not get seasick in transport, her hands shake less often, she has become more resilient – she can go longer without a break.
