Greetings to all! I am the mother of Oleg Gnatishin, who is now 16 years old. We have been undergoing treatment with Vagif Mamedovich since 2013, and my son received his first treatment at the age of 5 years and 10 months. You can see our story in the Professor’s book. Our father made a tattoo of Vagif Mamedovich’s portrait as a sign of boundless gratitude for our son’s treatment. When someone sees the tattoo and asks my husband who this person is on his stomach, the answer is always the same: “This man saved my son and family.” It may seem like strong words, but I am sure that everyone who has received help at the Institute understands what he is talking about. Let me remind you that Oleg came to the professor without speech. Only “bee-bee,” “co-co,” “pee-pee,” “bow-wow,” and this was the result after 1.5 years on neuroleptics, which our neurologist prescribed correctly and then discontinued. She said that they could no longer provide any benefit, only harm. I think everyone interested in reading more about our family will easily find our story. I want to leave a review about the results of our 19th stage of treatment.
With each trip, Oleg’s exacerbations become smoother and less noticeable; this time, not a single one of the frequently recurring complaints returned (scratching his thighs to large wounds, patience when needing to go to the toilet for a bowel movement). I can proudly say that in August, Oleg spent 3 weeks in a camp with a work schedule from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with typical children aged 9-16 years. He was so thrilled! He tried to tell us everything and communicated a lot with all the children, learned to ride various devices, and filmed his physical achievements on his phone. He looked forward to the autumn holidays to go there again. Since September, Oleg goes to school independently and comes home by himself; he has his own house keys. If he used to have a panic fear of walking or going out without me or his father, now he is completely independent. We worked towards this for a very long time. While the good autumn weather lasted, Oleg would eat breakfast himself, take a shower, get dressed, and go for a walk in the morning, and when he had enough (at least 3-4 hours), he would come home. Oleg has lost weight and is striving for a good athletic figure. This is such happiness! The list of products he eats corresponds to a healthy person who loves to try everything tasty))) and this is a child who, before treatment, could not chew and ate at most 4 products, and any new food caused vomiting or a panic fear of trying it. His vocabulary has expanded, and his memory is improving, although it is still Oleg’s weakest point today. But our “diamond” is under daily pressure; if my husband and I weaken our grip, he immediately relaxes.
This year, Oleg is in a pre-New Year mood like never before in his life. His whole room is filled with figures of various characters from movies/cartoons and made-up ones; plasticine is simply the best gift for him now. I often hear him singing in his room and catch him dancing in front of the mirror)) he didn’t care before; this behavior didn’t exist before the 19th trip. This information is for those who expect quick miracles from treatment. I started hearing him say the phrase “I can handle it myself”! We constantly hear stories from him about how he helped someone cross the road or helped a mother with a stroller while he was out alone (walking or going to or from school). We now see a healthy emotional reaction to movies, unusual people on the street, and non-standard situations, and this is a very important improvement for us!
